Don't Act Like You Know Me
You don’t really want to see me succeed
Because you’re afraid that I just might leave
Who else will you have to laugh at endlessly
When no one else is around to care what you think

While you sit with each other over a few cheap drinks
And acknowledge the fact of how much I cause a stink
I must be some great influence, even though you would doubt it
For you to waste so much of your time conversing about it

As for me, I shouldn’t complain, this is just what I ordered
The attention I seek, sending me to the border
Of eventual aggravation on the part of my listeners
As if anyone’s really paying the attention I’m being dissed for

Don’t act like you know me  Don’t act like you care
Don’t act like we’re best friends  Like you’ve always been there

Don’t act like you know me  What bone did you throw me
Since when did you show me  Yo, Don’t act like you know me

I had some weird audacity to be upset over the fun
I constantly created for those that chose to leave me shunned
Out of the ‘little click’ they created as they’ve aged
And fear the little freaks like me whose role is merely staged

Just what exactly is it that made me stay enraged
In my little mental cage of whose creation set you free
Whatever kept me here, this need for acceptance, made me see
Your fears could become my reality

Don’t act like you know me  Don’t act like you care
Don’t act like we’re best friends  Like you’ve always been there

Don’t act like you know me  What bone did you throw me
Since when did you show me  Don’t act like you know me

You don’t really want to see me succeed
Because you’re afraid that I just might leave
Who else will you have to torment endlessly
When no one else around gets upset by what you say

And then when things do finally go my way
‘Yeah, that’s our Dog!” is the part that you’ll play
As if all of this time we’ve been hanging out like we’re cool
Yet you cant figure out what suddenly changed me from the fool

Don’t act like you know me  Don’t act like you care
Don’t act like we’re best friends  Like you’ve always been there

Don’t act like you know me  What bone did you throw me
Since when did you show me  Don’t act like you know me

Don’t act like you know me  Don’t act like you care
Don’t act like we’re best friends  Like you’ve always been there

Don’t think of the past fondly  Because you know that I wont
So Don’t act like you know me  Because you know that you don’t

You don’t really want to see me succeed . . .
