Don't Act Like You Know Me
You donít really want to see me succeed
Because youíre afraid that I just might leave
Who else will you have to laugh at endlessly
When no one else is around to care what you think

While you sit with each other over a few cheap drinks
And acknowledge the fact of how much I cause a stink
I must be some great influence, even though you would doubt it
For you to waste so much of your time conversing about it

As for me, I shouldnít complain, this is just what I ordered
The attention I seek, sending me to the border
Of eventual aggravation on the part of my listeners
As if anyoneís really paying the attention Iím being dissed for

Donít act like you know me  Donít act like you care
Donít act like weíre best friends  Like youíve always been there

Donít act like you know me  What bone did you throw me
Since when did you show me  Yo, Donít act like you know me

I had some weird audacity to be upset over the fun
I constantly created for those that chose to leave me shunned
Out of the Ďlittle clickí they created as theyíve aged
And fear the little freaks like me whose role is merely staged

Just what exactly is it that made me stay enraged
In my little mental cage of whose creation set you free
Whatever kept me here, this need for acceptance, made me see
Your fears could become my reality

Donít act like you know me  Donít act like you care
Donít act like weíre best friends  Like youíve always been there

Donít act like you know me  What bone did you throw me
Since when did you show me  Donít act like you know me

You donít really want to see me succeed
Because youíre afraid that I just might leave
Who else will you have to torment endlessly
When no one else around gets upset by what you say

And then when things do finally go my way
ĎYeah, thatís our Dog!Ē is the part that youíll play
As if all of this time weíve been hanging out like weíre cool
Yet you cant figure out what suddenly changed me from the fool

Donít act like you know me  Donít act like you care
Donít act like weíre best friends  Like youíve always been there

Donít act like you know me  What bone did you throw me
Since when did you show me  Donít act like you know me

Donít act like you know me  Donít act like you care
Donít act like weíre best friends  Like youíve always been there

Donít think of the past fondly  Because you know that I wont
So Donít act like you know me  Because you know that you donít

You donít really want to see me succeed . . .
